"It's not so much that you can't make this stuff up, it's that you wish you had to."
-Jon Stewart re 'voting irregularities' - more votes than there were congressman...

Bad Company: re Enron, correspondent expects they'll play the race card. JS: the race card?
Yes, Jon, just because someone is a white male does not mean he is guilty of financial scamming of billions and billions of dollars.
...I see how you hide your financial statements when you see me across the street.

and on the Report:
Colbert is rooting for Pittsburgh, because Seattle is a city that calls this a skyscraper {Space Needle} - how is a giant monkey supposed to climb that? Seattle does have guts - there it is, between two Canadas: Canada Canada and Oregon: California's Canada. Oregonites, don't bother writing me letters -- I don't read anything on Birch bark.
...then: Know Your District re the 8th district where among other monuments is one famously standing for freedom, liberty, and balls - Yes, the 8th district is home to the studio of the Colbert Report. ...interview with his Congressman: people can say something isn't happening and it is happening. (yes.) You don't have a girlfriend? and, you're a member of the NAACP and the NWO, are you black, a woman, or a black woman? (I'm.. none of those things.) And your girlfriend, is she a black woman?... dear Colbert, staying in character.* makes me want to own this (dvd?)
and about his guest, she hasn't learned the first rule of political discourse: if you can't say something nice, don't talk about the President.

*Wikipedia: The studio guests appeared to be uncertain and put off by Colbert's keeping in character during the first few episodes... . But by the fourth and fifth episodes, Colbert mastered a routine of remaining in character in an affable rather than purely unpredictable way, and keeping his guest comfortable and in on the fun. One critic identified Colbert's on-the-spot ad libbing in character during the studio interviews as the one aspect of the show that was funniest and most revealing of talent. yup.
impresses me: last week guest took out a small green New Testament and handed it to Colbert to read a verse -- Colbert quoted it immediately without looking. very well played.
Remarkably, Colbert has also usually remained in character as the anchor Colbert when he is interviewed by the media.
