Laurel’s TV Picks:
Series premiere of Jericho (CBS, 7pm; airs again on Saturday at 7pm). This is one of my favorite shows of the new season; please check out my fall preview of it to get the full scoop on what I think after having seen the first two episodes.
This episode will air again on Saturday at 7pm. maybe watch Jericho on Saturday...
Hour-long drama about the citizens of a small town and how they deal with a terrible situation (there’s this mushroom cloud in the distance, you see, and they don’t know what’s happened and are cut off from the rest of the world).
It’s not your typical CBS show, it’s not really typical in any way and that’s refreshing. what's the typical CBS show?
she gave it a grade of A

and look also Kidnapped
:
Series premiere of Kidnapped (NBC, 9pm).
A. Excellent pilot for what looks to be an excellent show.
A child (of wealthy parents played by Dana Delany and Timothy Hutton) is Kidnapped despite the best efforts of his bodyguard (Mykelti Williamson). The family does not call the police or FBI, but instead hires someone who is an expert in finding abductees (played by Jeremy Sisto); despite their best efforts, the FBI does find out about the kidnapping and get involved (the leader of that team is played by Delroy Lindo).
This show will tell the story of a single kidnapping over the course of one season; you’ll want to see these episodes in order. (If the show is renewed for a second season, that season would follow the characters played by Sisto and Lindo as they deal with another kidnapping).
This show is well-acted, well-written, and well-produced. You care about these characters already after just a single episode.I could go on, but fellow Vidiot Jason Snell has written a review that’s right on the money– I completely agree with it. Go check it out. Dana Delany is awesome here as the grieving mother (who also appears to have some secrets, of course). Carmen Ejogo is excellent as Sisto’s right hand woman.
chances of survival: Good, I hope.Well-promoted, good people involved, it’s a good show, and a series that needs to get an entire season so we see the whole story. It’s a pity it’s on opposite The Nine which is another of my favorite new shows for this season (and it has Lost on before it). The Nine premieres next week or after ~

Nikki Reed
(of Thirteen), Michael Badalucco (of The Practice) guest star on a new episode of Justice (FOX, 8pm). The lawyers defend someone who is accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend at a rehab center. This show just hasn’t won me over, it’s so very cold; Shark is a much better new show if you want one about lawyers. Shark is Thursday ~ premiere tomorrow?

Tyra and company are back on the season premiere of America’s Next Top Model (CW, 7pm; airs again on Sunday at 7pm). If you’re a Top Model fan, keep in mind that you can watch the rebroadcast on Sunday if there are other shows you want to check out tonight. Tonight’s episode is titled “The Girl Who Marks Her Territory”– I wish I could say they were just speaking figuratively! I’ve seen this season premiere and I think this is an interesting batch of would-be models (which always helps) eh
