the mynetworktv telenovelas are fun-bad, maybe fascinating
lots of repeated exposition in the dialogue and over-drama but it seems appropriate to the genre I guess.
vs Standoff just bad bad ~ bcs trying to be good? in genre (?character driven procedural drama) therefore comparable with law&order, without a trace, the closer -- and acting-dialogue just awkward and uncompelling..
-I have to watch b/c Gina Torres is in it (though not, sadly, as the main love interest). We need a device that digitally removes unsatisfactory actresses from TV shows and replaces them with Gina Torres. I'd probably start with the Angie Harmon episodes of Law & Order.
cldn't tell she's good fr this. she played their boss, RonLivingston-char's former partner, said "you think bcs it's me sitting behind this desk you can get away w anything?" and it was actually that scene that seemed most acutely bad to me, with the main chars one-upping each other is saying their relationship was unimportant
-I die of laughter every time I see the commercial of the show when RL is all, "Do you want your son to die" and draws it out like it's the greatest piece of dialogue ever.
-It might get more viewers if FOX advertise that they are going to play Office Space instead.
just advertise OfficeSp instead, than air the show. that's funny.
I think I might not like RL much now seen him in this and in the Stephen King Nightmares&Dreamscapes episode where he talked about his brother changing the water to bring world peace and then everyone got amnesia. RL hasn't been bad but somehow not likeable in these roles. so that Office Sp seems like an exception.
-This show is going to suck ass. Peter Gibbons would never do this crap. nice. (the OfficeSp char - took me a beat)
