7-2: "That's What You Get, Folks, For Makin' Whoopee" 2006.10.03 - TWoP Forums p5
and p.6 and p1-2 and jump to current (11pm) last pg=11, I think all fr those pages
-Rory was in full on brat mode.
yeah that's what I thought. and too bad, I liked her last week maybe for the first time. this was back to usual. I can understand her being upset, but you'd think she was smart enough to know that her mother's sleeping with Christopher isn't all about Rory...Someone still has to explain to me why Lauren Graham has no Emmy. She is simply amazing, even when the material isn't the best. still and always true.
-
good continuity with her issues over Logan and the bridesmaids of last season. I don't think she was being a brat, she was obviously transferring a bit. if she was upset more along those lines - how quickly her mother slept with someone else - than it seems less bratty. but I didn't get that. but I wasn't fully watching, so.
-Did anyone else think that this episode was AWESOME? huh cool I wasn't sure it was esp good, seemed fine, my attn was not fully on it- but the cmmts mostly all seem very positive, I'm glad and I'm likeing the episode fr reading about it. I loved how the beginning and the end were both silent. Nice effect. [ah, observant. the opening was Luke going to Chris's bldg. the end was the camera panning back (?) at the grocery store]
-And yes, I miss the elder Gilmores. And Sebastian Bach. huh! I never realized the older member of Lane's band was the singer fr Skid Row.
-
I'm missing the senior Gilmores as well.I know that they're in Europe.
ah. I'm looking forward to their return.

-I was really happy with Liz calling Luke on the weirdness of not telling Lorelai about his daughter, but she was really serious about them never being in sync.
wh I tht was accurate - not just about not telling Lorelai for 2 mo about April, but also never really moving in. that was good, Liz. I'd like to see Luke feel remorse about those things..
-Liz hit the nail on the head when she said, "it was Anna..who doesn't tell the fiance that he has a daughter. Who does that he a relationship? So spot on.
-Great Liz/TJ/Luke dinner scene... good discussion, I wish it would have gone on longer... about the issues of L/L, and having them sink in a little for Luke.
-Omg, Liz just called Luke on his not telling Lor about April! Wow, could this show actually have realistic relationships again?! ..Oh, heartbreaking last scene. Damn you, Lauren Graham!

--Luke of all people saying "you should be with someone like Christopher". I guess TPTB think that if Luke approves of the L/C relationship, we all will. -I don't think DR is trying to convince us of that, I think they are portraying Luke as a man who gave up too easily. good - I'd like that better (the smart writing seems to me to be in Lorelai being basically right that Luke wasn't really ready to marry her, that the way he was withholding from her mattered)
-
And no, I don't think the writers of this show are trying to convice us that L/C is meant to be, but I don't think the promo guy knows that. I like the talk about 'promo guy.' The "next week on Gilmore Girls" has been seriously twisted the last two weeks and just plain off base. "When you don't know where to turn follow your heart"?
--I also saw Luke saying she belonged with Christopher as him ceding the field. He realized that he's hurt her, but he doesn't fully understand what happened yet, only that he failed her and she ran to Chris. He's trying to convince himself that Lorelai Gilmore of Hartford belongs with Mr. GotBucks and not with a guy who grew up eating tuna loaf. -I think Luke was also absolving Lorelai of the guilt she is having (even though it might not be coming across too clearly from her). When he claimed to be (paraphrasing) "just the diner guy, servng you your coffee" it broke my heart in about a million pieces. That hit Lorelai hard, I'm sure. No way does she beleive that. And just like that, I am very very optimistic about their reunion. huh. well that's be nice. I have no guess, really, whether they will or won't 'end up' together. which probably speaks well of the writing..
-Lorelai came to her "it hurts to much to hang on" theory and made it final with the Christopher yes and now all the doubts and little voices that might be screaming she made a mistake have to be silenced and so she tells herself Luke didn't want to be married and wasn't going to let her in when we know that given a little conversation and time all would be well. do we know that? I am not sure, which again seems to speak well of the show. Luke in turn would rather believe that their relationship was inevitably doomed than that he was responsible for not hanging on to the best thing in his life. ok, that seems right, good. Also, we know that he constantly had doubts that he fit or rather was constantly made to feel inferior when he ventured into the grandparent Gilmore world. I think in addition to the "just the guy who pours you coffee" line being an expression of his inferiority it also was a way for him to try to keep her in his life. aw. longrun this seems so sad especially for him. seems more likely that Lorelai could find someone else to live happily with than that Luke will grow out of loner-ness with someone else. and, he's always liked her. so much.

-I totally buy it (re Lorelai & Christopher) , it's exactly the sort of thing that normally responsible people tend to do, and the whole thing is really heartbreaking.
..I only wanted to punch TJ like once or twice! He was sort of charming even. I think these writers have made better characters and better actors out of some of these people.
--I gotta say, one of the best parts about ASP and DP being gone is that the characters finally TALK and say what THEY SHOULD. -Totally. I was afraid it would just be a one time thing, but this episode went even deeper than last episode's. ..Although I hope the conversation with Lorelai when Rory talked about being a "grown-up" and not telling Logan how she feels doesn't mean they're going to make Rory pull a Lorelai and be all pent up all season again. But actually, at the moment, I'm not worried about it, because I have faith in DR already. cool. I'm actually a little pissed at ASP for not allowing a writing staff and others' creative input, because if we could have gotten the last few seasons in the quality of these first two episodes... sigh.
-I'd been avoiding this season, and I didn't watch the season premiere, but after tonight, I just may continue to watch. GG really did need some new blood after all. Kudos to DR, RRK and company. good.
-I want to strangle Kirk. As for the rest of the episode, Damn with a capital David Rosenthal.
