eSnips - Bookmarking and Media Sharing: when you try to be a social bookmarking site, a photo host and a video host all at once ...
--eSnips has been my secondary to Del.icio.us for saving web pages for a while now because it does one thing that Del.icio.us and all the other bookmarking services that I have looked at (and believe me, that’s a LOT of services) don’t do: let you save copies of the IMAGES from a web page.
--Why do I use eSnips? Because it does what I need, quick ‘n easy.
I can
select and upload stuff I find on the Web as I search (not whole pages if all I want is a photo and 2 lines of text) - including partial screenshots if the site doesn’t want me to copy from it huh? does this mean, some sites won't let you copy text (is that the case?) but then you can take a screenshot?
I can collect material for a friend or a client, whether it’s a PDF or family photos or a spreadsheet or all the above, put it in a shared folder and only the people I want can access it. Or put it in a private folder and use eSnips as backup for stuff I want to access from elsewhere.
-I’m a happy customer of this company’s previous product (Net Snippets) huh

techcrunch: Checking Out eSnips: It’s hard to categorize eSnips. We looked at it as part of our review of online storage providers - and although eSnips does provide 1 GB of free storage for users, they clearly are up to something else as well. The core idea is to allow users to upload media files of any type - photos, videos, office documents, whatever - tag them, and either keep them private, share with other or make them public. But eSnips is also allowing bookmarking of web content, from a whole page to a line or paragraph.
Others can comment on each piece of media or content as well, and rate a user created page. RSS feeds are available for everything. Given the social aspects of the service, eSnips is really a content-centric social
network.
