loose wire blog: Directory Of Clipping Savers I recently wrote in WSJ.com (subscription required) about how to save snippets of information while you’re browsing. I didn’t have space to mention all the options I — or readers — came across, so here’s the beginnings of a list. The basic criterion is that the service lets the user easily capture material they’ve found on the Internet.
Clipmarks: Clip and tag anything on the web
Net Snippets: friendly, intuitive way to maximize the effective use of information from the Internet.
Google Notebook: enabling you to clip and gather information while you're browsing the web.
Zotero: It not only does a great job of storing globs of web pages or the whole thing but it has an academic bent too, allowing you to store bibiographic information as well.
EverNote: Quickly create, organize and find any type of notes on an endless, digital roll of paper. (from free to $35)
JetEye: the Content Manager for the Web. turns your normal web browsing into live web pages 'Jetpaks' that you can use to remember, share, etc. easy to use - simply drag and drop anything you see on the web into the Jetpak you're creating. No need to bookmark again - in fact, Jeteye goes completely beyond the concept of bookmarks by enabling users to create dynamic web pages of any digital content.
ScrapBook: a Firefox extension # Save Web page # Save snippet of Web page # Save Web site (In-depth Capture) # Organize the collection in the same way as Bookmarks # Highlighter, Eraser and various page editing features # Full text search and quick filtering search maybe should try this. saves to yr computer huh? can save images?
My personal favorites? I love ScrapBook because it lets me save stuff in folders on my own computer. Clipmarks is great for online stuff, and the tagging/folder mix is powerful. EverNote has its moments but for all its interface ingenuity, it’s not easy to organise stuff.

For stuff that's more socially oriented, check out my Directory of Social Annotation Tools
hmm seems a toss-up that Diigo is with the social tools and Esnip is with the clipping savers. well maybe not, Diigo does say they are for social annotation, and Esnip whatever else it does first of all I guess does allow you to clip).
Wikalong , BlogEverywhere , Annozilla ,
HyLighter “extends the potential of documents as a medium for the negotiation of meaning. Use HyLighter to make what you understand more transparent and how you understand more effective.” Whatever that means. Website seems to be idle.
I am curious about each of these social annotation services, like with shadows and stumpleupon I'd like to see a collection of comments about whatever site I am int in - but, lots of people have to use the same one service for it to work, right?

whew. too much. too much. abundance.
well, I'll browse Clipmarks maybe. otherwise I suppose don't bother with any of these. unless I find, wh so far I don't, that one has a look that attracts me... because everything clipped will be in this environment. or, until I need some way to clip & organize.
