1-5: "You Think You Know Somebody" 2004.10.26 - TWoP Forums:

-They do have to do a bit more to make Lianne interesting. I mean they did such a good job with Lilly, it's almost making the still-living Lianne look bad in comparison.
they did? do such a good job with Lilly? I did not dislike her, but she's dramatic in all the flashbacks of her so far, which doesn't seem like such a fantastic best friend ~ anyway, it's not bad, but I am unsure why a comment like this one, or like this:
You Gogo, Girl
The Wrath Of Con - Veronica dresses up like a Japanese schoolgirl to get close to some computer geeks who are using an email scam to get money to write a computer game. Sound dumb? Well, just between us, it is, a little bit. But the episode is rescued by a heaping helping of footage of Lilly Kane when she was alive, and now everyone understands what the fuss was about.
we do?

-Up to now, I really enjoyed the show. Watched faithfully, read the boards, pimped it to my friends. Tonight? I fell madly in love. And it all started with, "Dude. Where's your car?"
-"Dude. Where's your car?" Perfect delivery, with just the right amount of sarcastic reference.
-I loved how Weevil was totally conducting illegal business right in front of Veronica. And that she didn't care so much.
(what? what was he doing? with his uncle at the auto shop?)
-Nice to see Weevil if only for a little while. And I am very happy to see Icetwin go. Now, the whole renting a room at the Four Seasons debacle makes more sense. he probably hooked up with her cause he had heard the rumors and thought she was easy.
oh huh, maybe. Kristin Bell was fantastic in her crying scene. It reminded me she was 17, and even with all her smoothness she wasn't really that tough. yeah-
-man I am a little scared for veronica. what was the deal with the crosshairs on the photo? who would want veronica dead? before this week's episode I mean. unless it was meant to put pressure on veronica's mom? like a blackmail kinda thing?
right the photos in the deposit box, as of 1-8 no clues on what that's about, right?
-They were surveillance pictures of Veronica, with crosshairs drawn over her head. Someone was having her followed, and wanted to send Lianne the message that they could have Veronica killed dead.
-That scene between Veronica and her father was intense and painful. I wasn't ready for that kind of pain this early in the show -- it got my heart pounding. I liked how Veronica had some vulnerable moments, where things didn't quite work out as she'd planned (tactically, at the car-tracing place, and emotionally, in her confrontations with her dad and Troy). She came through and kicked ass in the end, of course. But I like that they're not writing her as totally cool and smooth all the time. She just recovers well.
--The fight between Veronica and her father. Man. That was intense. Great job by both actors, and the camera work was brilliant. Very subtly shaking. It was slight, yet really jarring in contrast to the steady of the rest of the show. --Ooh, I meant to mention that. I liked that they did that, though, is it really good if we notice it? Ah well, we're advanced teevee viewers. (I don't think I noticed it)

I loved the fact that during the crying scene after the Keith/Veronica fight, Veronica starts crying, pauses to fiddle with her pen, and then starts crying again. That slight pause made all the difference. On any other show the character would have just cried right through the entire scene. The pause shows the constant internal battle between the marshmallow Veronica, and the taser carrying, snarky Veronica. When Veronica stops crying and starts toughening up, I was expecting a snarky VMVO. But instead she starts crying again. Despite her best efforts, she could not stop herself from crying because it hurts way too much.

-I never thought they could make a character turn a complete 180 like that, but wow, they did that with Troy. I sorta dug Veronica's and Troy's relationship, but at least it made for a really good TV. But man, did he turn into a skeevy jackass in the last ten minutes, or what.
- * They played me -- I thought Troy was a part of it, then when Veronica accused him and he made his speech, I went to his side, then he turns out to be a bastard and I thought Veronica might have been played, but then *ring ring!* Hi Troy! Hi Shauna! Good stuff.
Veronica is so smart about lots of stuff, but she's (thankfully) not perfect and still a little like a teenager. I'm liking Dad more and more and he showed lots of heartbreaking class tonight. Wallace and Veronica put the Scooby thing out there and stomped on it, and Backup is fabulous. Love. This. Show.
-I definitely didn't see the Troy twist coming. I never liked him, then I finally felt bad for him when Veronica confronted him at the lockers, so I guess I totally fell for it. And it was great.
The question mark on the birthday cake was very cute.

-Call me crazy. But I was picking up on a Logan/Veronica vibe. I liked when she jokingly revving her engine and his lighly slapped her car with his coat in a saucy way. Even their exchange in the hallway seemed less hostile. Almost a good kind of bantering like his heart wasn't really into hating her, just pushing her buttons.
-Even though I lurve Logan and only kinda like Duncan, I'm surprised this episode was Donut-less. It seems like Duncan could have (?should have) totally filled Logan's role in this episode. Not that I'm really complaining cause Logan rocks but still it's a touch jarring.

-My head still hurts from the anvil that hit me when Veronica pointed out that Troy didn't seemed stressed and 30 seconds later Wallace questions why Troy's parents would dole out an extreme punishment. --What's the anvil there? As we saw at the end, he did get the extreme punishment. this is what I am wondering, looking for - more re whether he actually was going to Albuquerque, what his plan was - where he was going, where he'd had the car - I don't think we were told, but I'd like have that confirmed by seeing other people wondering
-What I meant is that I felt at that point they were practically screaming at the audience that something was up with Troy. He wasn't stressed, so the audience was suppose to be wonder as to why. Wallace's question about the punishment was suppose to get the audience thinking maybe Troy had a not so squeaky clean past if his parents would ship him off instead doing what Wallace pointed out, just sending him to a private school locally. Shipping him off seemed extreme for a kid who had no previous problems. (Which of course we found out not to be the case). ..alarm bells went off in my head about Troy at that scene. I immediately strated thinking he might have something to do with the missing car. I thought he was working with the Gym Guy. My Dad has been a police officier my whole life and he always taught me to suspect someone on the inside. huh.
-Troy stole the car himself -- or arranged for it to be stolen -- in order to spirit away the steroids. It's possible, I suppose, that he simply drove the car somewhere else when he supposedly went to the bathroom.

got to p5.

-I liked how the last scence was shot almost a like dream sequence. Veronica's asleep, in soft focus, bath in yellow light. Lianne is telling Veronica everything that she wants to hear (she loves her, she'll be in touch, and she is thinking about her and Keith). At the end Veronica nods her head as if she actually heard the message.
