prufrockdancer - comment: Doesn't institutional affiliation provide the initial guarantee that relating is possible? Otherwise we're English and Indians, and anything could happen. I think the 'common humanity' of humanity is greatly exaggerated. I bet for people who meet through some kind of network or circumstance, something usually serves a similar function. By some kind of implication they assure each other that there is common ground.
