The Bachelor - "better than Lost!"

10 Feb 09 The Bachelor/ette Spoilers: Who's Kissing Whom? - TWoP Forums p36 | this season's finale will be jaw dropping or as RS says, something we never saw coming
-The best part of this season has been the bizarre theories generated in response to Reality Steve's spoiler that the finale is more surprising that Brad's season finale. .. jaw dropping or as RS says, something we never saw coming, or to quote him, "All is not as seems." -And truthfully, to me, the only thing more shocking then the Bachelor walking away would be his final choice walking away. -These theories get kookier by the day; whatever RS's big shocker is will seem like small potatoes compared to some of the doozies people come up with. I'm guessing that based on Melissa's storyline build-up in this week's episode (and previews of next week), the shocker will have something to do with her parents and their lack of approval.
& elsewhere, prob in TWOP spoiler thread:
-RS says he has cried wolf before, but this time there really is a wolf.
-All this speculation is better than Lost!

& after the spoilers re publicly dumping his chosen fiancee for the runner-up ~ agreeing to do this on air

-Brad Womack is looking better and better.
y. ppl tht he was such a jerk for not picking either of his F2 - that rxn to that is where I first paid any attn to 'The Bachelor' - but now it looks like he must have stood up to the producers way more than the others seem to do. and then he went off quietly, and has stayed out of the media remarkably. which again gives the appearance of (relative) integrity.

12 Feb 09 ABC extends "Bachelor" party with hour special
tvt: The Bachelor" adds an "After the Final Rose: Part 2" // The events in the show's regular three-hour conclusion are dramatic enough to warrant an additional hour, creator Mike Fleiss said. "It's going to be shocking," Fleiss said. "The end of this series is the best we've every had." /huh! the best. so? they get married then & there ~ no ~ he *does* get back tgthr w Deanna? ~ unlikely. so, what then?
why would Fleiss call it "the best"? when it's at least unfortunate that this guy was so confused and hurt Melissa.

17 Feb 09 Jillian: 'Bachelor' made the right choice [letting her go at F3] | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | News Mike Fleiss, the creator of the show, told the New York Times that the ending is "insane", even freakish. Could it have anything to do with DeAnna's surprise reappearance? "It's such an important part of this whole experience -- her being there. I can't say anything else. It would ruin it for everybody," Jason said.
ok a Deanna's appearance did not seem to be important at all, unless he's thinking that he chose Melissa bcs of Deanna's advice to pick the one that fits what he's always thought he wanted, not the wildcard. but nothing the editing showed us made that connection.
and b, Fleiss with "best" and now "freakish - insane" - 'freakish' is pretty overthetop - a guy keeps changing his mind. ok Jason's ability to jump right into cliches & absolutes, that maybe is freakish. to Molly last night he says they do not have to go on fast-forward, just get coffee (well ~ she lives in Michigan) but then he goes right into voiceover style "I started falling in love with you early on. And I'm still falling in love with you. And it will never stop." & "I came here to find the woman to spend the rest of my life with. You are that right woman." yes host Chris Harrison talks like this but that *is* scripted and not supposed to be him speaking for himself. I don't think they are scripting Jason, I think he scripts himself, and does not know another way to talk. he seems sincere enough, just he has no ~original voice. so yes beware of people who seem not to speak from any origin in themselves, not to have any idiosyncrasies in how they name things.

YouTube - Jason Mesnick on Ellen DeGeneres 01/09/09 (4 of 5)
well he's more likeable here than I'd think he cld seem to me at this point. maybe Ellen brings out the best. making him try to name all the girls (bcs figures he'll remember the name of the girl he's engaged to but maybe not all the others) but he knows 1 2 3 4 & says "this isn't a very good game."
-Ok, he says he's engaged on this Ellen show... taped in January... But now he will NOT say he is engaged, but he says he is happy and in love -- with the way here & w Kimmel that he's saying he's engaged & going to marry the girl he picked, it seems to me the dump & switch could not have been planned by ABC from beginning. bcs he'd have to played these interviews differently, right? it really makes him seem like a doofus.

YouTube - Jason Mesnick "The Bachelor" Jimmy Kimmel Live 1-9-09 | 9:01
Kimmel's good here: *none* of the previous (12) bachelors married the girl they picked. not one. aren't the odds against that?! & maybe it is bcs the girl sees the show. well. maybe the whole not being together for several months after he chooses her - apparently bcs the show has not aired, so have to stay below radar - Chris H says that they the producers try to arrange rendezvous - but just having the months of the staged show dates, then a few 'rendevous' for the next few months *then* trying to start actually being together, well that seems like a terribly unlikely way to become close.
also: *on* the show they should clarify the mandates restricting them eg from seeing each other openly. if the show were more transparent, it could be a lot less ridiculous and maybe more interesting. ie acknowledge the cameras (not constantly, don't have to edit it to show lots of that, but don't show *none* of it) and the artificiality.

Kimmel: are you going to get married? Jason: Absolutely!
Kimmel: ---. That's what every one of you says. (aside to staff) Let's put together an 'Absolutely' montage when have #14.
Jason is a pretty good sport here, gotta give him that?
Kimmel: well I hope that it all works out for you and that you do get married, but I'm pretty confident that you won't. nicely delivered Kimmel.*

*and can now watch last nite's (post-finale & ATFR airing) Kimmel w Jason , what will say?

ok again I enjoyed Kimmel, after Jason says he thinks one day he & Melissa will be friends, laughing Oh no you will not.

1 Mar 09 The Bachelor/ette Spoilers: Who's Kissing Whom? - TWoP Forums p104 | what will happen in after-intrvws, eg w Ellen? | + likeable post fr ListenLady, re Mel: Top of the food chain, that one. And Jason, well, isn't.
-Ellen is scheduled to have the F2 on Thurs and Jason & his F1 on Fri. can't see Melissa & Jason going on Ellen together so will he bring Molly? If so, I hope she lets them have it. I wonder if Melissa will do any publicity at all.
also will be in on tonite's (Tues 3/3) AFR2 to hear what Naomi, Stephanie, Jillian think of the dumping Melissa for Molly.
-Melissa seems bright & good natured, if a bit "on" w all the golly gee willakers & scrunchy faces. Molly is self-assured, good-humored. Jason said that her smile at the rose ceremonies were reassuring to him. I get that. You sense that everything is hunky dory in her little universe. I can see how that wld be attractive quality in a potential mate. But whatev he was feeling for Molly I never perceived it to be worthy of a broken engagement or the histrionics on the balcony (give me a break). ..And this whole season I cldn't shake the elephant in the room that Melissa really is out of Jason's league. She's a v pretty girl & has of other nice qualities too. I think he & Molly are a more realistic match. Maybe he sensed that too.

p108:
-I'm very curious to see the reactions to what happens tonight via the episode thread, vs. this spoiler thread. To the unspoiled, as many have pointed out here, the way the show is edited to make Jason look like a gutsy, good guy, hero single dad, may succeed in providing a shocking, but palatable ending, in stark contrast to the villification (rightly deserved) I'm sure Jason will recieve here in the spoiler thread. Can't wait.
-After the show is finished airing, those of us in the know can report to the regular thread and tell them what really went down. I intend to do it; because I don't want anyone letting the guy off the hook. And I don't know who in the Hell would want to watch Jason and Molly get married on TV. They are not romantic like Trista and Ryan were, and they got together at the emotional expense of another, far more likeable girl.
