Both Salon and Slate have articles marking the 50th anniversary of Nabokov's Lolita.
-12/22 bookslut.
+See how well you were paying attention this year with the Guardian's 2005 in books quiz

and 12/21:
-Laura Miller of Salon? brings up two excellent points (god, you have no idea how much it hurts me to write that huh) in this interview on Moby Lives Radio huh : the superiority of English fiction this year and the fact that men's best of the year lists consist mostly of books by men, even in a very strong year of books by women. eh.
-she is in Chicago (when not on holiday) The Chicago Sun Times profiles artist Jay Ryan, whose book 100 Posters, 134 Squirrels has recently been released. If you're in Chicago (damn holiday travel!) you should stop by his book release party with Joe Meno at the Hideout tonight. The Hidout yay.
- "If you are a single woman of a certain age, you can either be obsessed with Jane Austen or you can have cats (salon). You cannot do both, and a long, long time ago I chose Jane." Hey, Gina Fattore, remember a few paragraphs ago when you were afraid of bringing back the stereotype of Jane Austen fans as desperate spinsters who deserve all the pity and scorn they inspire? Yeah, you just reinforced it.
ok. I am enjoying her links. but I seem remember going to this site in past and not being engaged... ah-this is the Blog: www.bookslut.com/blog/
right. home is an "issue" - visually laide out? photo + interviews / articles by various people. goes to show that weblogs are my alley - text. vertical. tending to the personal (voice). immediacy (timestamped). associative (links).
