tvwop re Rory-I hate how everything always goes completely perfectly for Rory despite the fact that she's kind of an unpleasant, drippy little person. It's not enough that she got into every single Ivy League school she applied for, that every guy she's ever been interested in (and all the other guys in the world, too) has completely loved her and not a single one has ever preferred another girl.
-Since I'm on a roll with my Rory-hate (Rory-sentment?), I'll just run with it. Some TV shows I watch, and they provide me with an opportunity to live out all my deepest fantasies. Like being a hot surgeon, or being a hot person trapped on a desert island that looks mysteriously like hawaii. Other shows I watch, and they make me hate my life. Like GILMORE GIRLS. I don't live in a cute town with a bunch of quaint and quirky people. I a) cannot afford to eat takeout every night of my life and b)even if I could, I would weigh a hundred and ten million pounds. I don't get to have a "likable- just your average girl next door" sort of persona ALONG WITH an endless supply of way rich relatives and friends who supply me with money for everything. I wouldn't go backpacking around europe with my mom if you paid me a hundred katrillion dollars. I don't know any chefs or handymen or fruit/vegetable vendors. When I make funny references to movies, no one gets them.
...
- More Lauren Graham praise, athough slighly roundabout: A lot of people posted how some of Rory’s actions that are imitative of her mom bothered them, like her buttering up the guy over the phone, because she’s not as convincing as Lorelei… That made me think for quite a while, because really, those types of actions do not annoy me less when Lorelei pulls them, getting her way by out-talking Luke on this episode, for example. And yet the quality and range of LG’s acting is such that I love the character anyway, not in spite of, but because of the things she annoys me with (the range, the roundedness of the character). For every time I think oh-my-god-shut-UP (taking too many tables at Luke’s on a regular basis) there are two times when I think "damn, you rock" ("You haven’t lost me" to Emily) and you didn't lose me- . Rory’s imitating doesn’t bother me (her VOICE does, she is too old for that squeak now, but I try not to hold it against her because I don’t think she can help it). but I don’t love her in the same way. I hope that made sense.
... 6-14: "You've Been Gilmored" 2006.02.07
--the best exchange was Christopher was asking Lorelai if "we" liked Logan and Lorelai said something like "I don't really trust any of you, you can thank Brad Pitt for that." nice. missed that.
-so I'm a little confused as to why Emily said that June 3 was so soon. I mean, L/L have been engaged for at least 6 or 8 months, right? --In Emily's world, an engagement is 18 months long, minimum. It takes that long to invite the 300 guests, get the 6 foot swan ice sculptures, and fly in the pate from France. Anything quicker than a year and half and it's a shot-gun wedding. nice.
