Brothers&Sisters ~ glad turned it on ~ it is maybe well written.
I still don't like sally field (good actress I suppose, just irritates me kind of like meg ryan -- and she and calista flockhart seem well-matched as mother & daughter maybe just bcs both irritate me in somewhat similiar way) but I did like her character's "thank you, for the if, that was sweet" when the lawyer son reading dad's will said "if and when mom dies". and he said "you got it" to her thank you ~.
that son is the one I like watching. (it's the other older son that is Balthazar Getty I guess, he does not attract me.) the lawyer one I like really really resembles Dr.Christian Troy (Nip/Tuck).
last week dlcs'd this:
"Matthew Rhys" "Julian McMahon" - Google Search
hit: Dr. Doom is cast! [Archive] - Ioan Gruffudd CommunityAm I the only one who thinks Julian McMahon looks a little like Matthew Rhys in this picture?
this week I looked for this again, I think they look a lot like. forehead, eyes spacing? and its that kind of resemblance that is in the voice too.
and also on this show Calista sound like someone to me, seems like it's an actress pretty familiar to me, is it someone British?
and! just now the father's mistress (being confronted by the young son) sounds -just- like someone. who? ... not felicityhuffman no ... candice bergen? I dont think so, need to hear her again.
and rachel griffiths so good, now her I knew I liked. the scene in the party shop was great. first, genuinely funny when she bangs at door as clerk is locking up "please! it's for my daughter" and he lets her in thank goodness and she says "thank you this must happen all the time." and he says "yeah it's like sophie's choice here every night." great.
then so sad "party stores should always have Hawaii ... mothers count on you so our daughters and our husbands don't despise us when we come home without the grass skirt."
and before with her ex-coworker "being in sync with a man who is not your husband is almost as sad as not being in sync with your husband." this is well done. the husband is so likeable, and so is she .. they are just not in sync.
oh... husband got the hula skit. her "they just sold the last one." then he says, c'mon, you gotta see something. and here's her daughter with a skirt and singing - she sings well! - and dad "I got the last one" and he taught her the song and is playing guitar for her.
ah! I think I got it. Calista sounds like Meredith! (Ellen Pompeo) and now that I got that - they look a like in a way too dont they, there is this voice resemblance that shows up in the face once you hear it - like with jennifer garner resembling natalie portman.
now next time I see this have to figure out the dad's mistress, who she resembles-soundslike.
yes Calista looking like Meredith - it's in the expressions, how a person holds her or his face? - Calista watching, one eyebrow up is like Merdedith's (eh-)reflectiveness.
I find this kind of resemblance fascinating. is it in hold of face, register of voice - do these go together? - and have to do with personality as much or more than given (genetic) appearance?
fascinating in same way - feels the same - as the way a certain cadence has a certain sensibility tone meaning-mood. poetry. voice- expression-
Brothers & Sisters - TWoP Forums p18:
--Am I the only one who thinks Kevin looks a lot like a much less attractive Julian McMahon?
-That's exactly what I was thinking (and I think Julian McMahon is hot). Matthew Rhys looked hot too. It seemed like the similarity has to do with Matthew Rhys trying to do "American" the same way that McMahon does. They don't necessarily resemble each other as much as they seem have similar facial expressions. and way of talking-
