Tim Goodman. The Bastard Machine ...season implodes: the writing is on the wall for more than one show, though it looks like the steep declines on Kidnapped will probably claim it first. With Studio 60 getting a free pass for a while based on Aaron Sorkin's power, may next be "Friday Night Lights" which was absolutely DOA on Tuesday night. wow possibly the two best. Kidnapped & Friday Night Lights. well Heroes is pretty good.
Hmmm. Maybe we'll see a massive reshuffling of the NBC schedule to protect some of these shows, because all the critical acclaim failed to launch Kidnapped and Friday Night Lights.

-As for Kidnapped and Friday Night Lights, they both deserve to stay on the air. Friday Night Lights definitely deserved more than what they got last night in terms of viewers. Kidnapped, I'm hearing, is done after 13 episodes. NBC might actually allow them to wrap it up. Who knows...why does NBC who actually has the best new line-up of shows get killed yet again in the ratings?
-I'm 35 minutes into Lost, and it feels like 15 of them have been commercials. I'm losing patience here. yes! ABC is the worst. 15min into BLegal we were cutting to a commercial break that I think was the fourth. (!) I think you really do get only 5min of show on average btw commercials, I kept track one time. abc seems fluff and dumb..
-I was flip-flopping between Lost and The Wire (at about a 1:4 ratio) nice so I didn't notice the commercial breaks on ABC.
But damned if The Nine didn't seem to be cutting to break every four minutes! yes I'd actually thought they must have cut back on Lost's ads, then compensated by cramming them back in the 10 o'clock hour. And The Nine? Doesn't have it. yay! it sure doesn't. ok well I only watched at 2 moments, for like a minute each time. the first one was all loudness and light flash motion and the second one was a char moment at an outside buffet or something but the characters seemed boring. why wld people find this the best pilot of the season? yech. not attractive at all to me. It's a drab show drifting in tweeker camerawork yes motion light unpleasant, pseudo-profound musings on trauma yech, and trendily convoluted yech storytelling for the sake of being convoluted. The dead hostage was better than any (or all) of the survivors, and she had like three lines of dialogue. Big bummer.
-I caught the second showing of Friday Night Lights tonight. It really is an amazing show. Yeah, it included a bunch of cliches, but I am definitely interested to see what happens again next week. Assuming there is a next week.
-This just in: Kidnapped cancelled. NBC will air the 13 eps it ordered but that's it.
