Colbert gem .. (Tim Goodman. The Bastard Machine):
Thankfully, I did watch the 'Midterm Midtacular' on Comedy Central with Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and special guest Dan Rather. Stewart's start was great, as usual, but I think there were two lovely gems from Colbert. The first was when he, as the faux right wing blowhard anchor he portrays, gave the first inkling he was willing to concede some Democratic victories. He said what's it going to be Dems, 'Tax and spend, cut and run or man on man?' Then, closing the night he caved to the sea change of results and warned America that it was making a huge mistake:
'Tomorrow you're all going to wake up in a brave new world - a world where the Constitution gets trampled by an army of terrorist clones created in a stem-cell research lab run by homosexual doctors who sterilize their instruments over burning American flags. Where tax-and-spend Democrats take all your hard-earned money and use it to buy electric cars for National Public Radio and teach evolution to illegal immigrants. Oh, and everybody's high!"
Beautiful. How we love Colbert.
