Laurel’s TV Picks » 2007 » June » 13:
Featured Pick - Season premiere of Rescue Me (FX, 9pm, 10pm).
Season four of Rescue Me begins about nine months after the end of season three. If you forgot what happened last season, there’s a lengthy “previously on” at the beginning that should remind you of where we left things; if you didn’t watch previous seasons of the show, you really shouldn’t jump into the series with season four (instead, I recommend that you track down the DVDs of seasons 1-3). I’ve seen the first three episodes of this season and I was impressed. I’m the first to admit that Tommy’s woes were getting a bit tiring last year and I began to lose patience with the show. But as I watched these episodes, I was reminded of what I like about the show: the humor (albeit vulgar) and comraderie at the firehouse, the realistic touches in regard to (dysfunctional) family life. And maybe I missed these characters (even Tommy) a bit too. I’m sure it helps that Tommy is fairly well-behaved (for Tommy) in these first episodes so I found him more sympathetic than I had in a while.

well I really liked Tommy. (never seen this before.) he's funny. very reactive. "What? .. you're what?"
and "I'm really pissed about this basketball thing." ... "Stressed? yeah, yeah, I'm stressed - this basketball thing, I haven't had sex or a smoke in 9 months, everyone I know thinks I'm going to jail. So yeah, y'know, yeah, stressed."
and a couple of the other firefighters are quick-talking funny in the same way, what this way?, I love it: "Well look Tommy, you know, in jail there are a lot of African Americans, lot of basketball playing, you know - you'll get better - you know, or at least, - good. "
who does this way remind me of? maybe ~ on Joe Frank, the guy I like. ~ Larry Bloch ~
