Gilmore Girls and Boston Legal have been respectively upstaged for me by Friday Night Lights (family ish drama) and Nip/Tuck (racier ~ not wholesome) -- which were the shows on opposite them on Tuesday when FNL started and when I first watched N/T. so, my first favorites upstaged by more fully serious favorites. Gilmore Girls and Boston Legal have some lovely moments, mostly because of Lorelai and of Alan Shore, but on the whole they are not beautiful shows -Gilmore is too ~ disneyish ? unreal - silly town characters - dumb; and Boston Legal is over the top nuts unreal and sometimes dumb
but there's nothing dumb about Friday Night Lights. it's well done and I like - could love - all the characters ( ~ six feet under was well done but I did not love any one of the characters).
Nip/Tuck well I suppose it doesn't always come through - eh, fourth season. but for the most part, these two guys, their friendship, the emotional trainwrecks that happen - 'viscerally harrowing' (or so, as the critic said).
anyway, do get the FriNiLight dvd, it'll be good to have, it is really affirming...
and the Kidnapped dvd? Kidnapped is not as lovely, no, it's just well written and acted and shot suspense with the pull of Sisto as Knapp and Hutton as the dad and I suppose also the actor who plays the kidnapped kid Leo.
